Youngberry

(Rubus species)

pick n' eat

Youngberries produce a sweet juicy fruit that is black to purple during the summer, on vigorous, thornless trailing plant. Thriving in a full sun position in a moist, well drained soil.

Use

Ideal for use as a fresh fruit or cooking into pies, tarts and jams. Can be frozen for use when not in season.

Care

Apply rich organic matter to retain moisture and curb weed growth. Canes should be pruned to ground level during the winter period; tie new canes to trellis, fences or any suitable support. Water regularly when fruit is formed, during the summer.
