The Jostaberry is a cross between the blackcurrant and gooseberry. It produces a high yeilding crimson to black rounded fruit, that tastes more like a gooseberry with a hint of blackcurrant. This thornless variety fruits from early to late summer. The fruit of the Jostaberry is high in vitamin C .
Great for use in jams, pies and tarts. Can be eaten fresh.
The Jostaberry is highly diesease resistant and will thrive in a full sun position, in a moist, well drained soil. Apply a rich organic matter to retain moisture and curb weed growth. Canes should be pruned during winter to encourage new growth throughout the spring.
